Ford S-MAX air con pump failed after 4 years and 35000 miles

The climate control on my 4 year old S- MAX does not emit cooling air. My local Ford dealer has done a standard air con service and re gassed the system and has now told me that the climate control pump has an internmittent fault and needs replacing. When I asked whether this was acceptable on a 4 year old car with 35,000 miles in the clock the response was that it is an electrical part and this sort of thing can happen.

What is your opinion, should I be looking for help from Ford or the dealer? The replacement is over £400 fitted.

Many thanks

Might be the clutch of the a/c compressor. In the UK the whole compressor is routinely replaced at around £800 - £1,000 when all that needs to be replaces is the clutch at around £100.
