Pentagon Vauxhall

We have just inherited a 2006 Vauxhall Meriva 1.6 petrol and immediately discovered a problem. The power steering cut out on the move, making it almost impossible to steer. Switching the engine off and on cured it temporarily, but it was a very hazardous situation. The internet told us that Vauxhall had recognised the problem and was prepared to consider fixing any Meriva less than 10 years old and 100,000 miles. Although ours has only 65,000 on the clock it is 11 years old. We approached Pentagon, Lincoln’s Vauxhall dealership, who asked us to bring it in to be examined. Although they ‘impounded’ it on the spot because it was dangerous to drive, they telephoned Vauxhall immediately and received an instant go-ahead. I was driven home and collected two days later, the car finished at no cost to ourselves. I was told it would have cost us around £1,000 if we had had to pay for it – probably what the car is worth! In the meantime we had received by email a video showing a full exterior inspection of the car – bodywork, tyres, brake pads and discs. I consider that exceptional service under any circumstances. We were treated with extreme courtesy and kind professionalism by Paul. I must say that this was in stark contrast to the haughty and supercilious attitude of Lincoln’s previous Vauxhall dealer when I had a Vauxhall company car – albeit many years ago.
