Should I just keep my 2003 Focus or buy a new car?

My car is a Ford Focus Zetec 1.6 with 55,000 miles. It is garaged overnight. I have had it from six months old and do 3000 miles a year, mainly short local runs and a few trips a week of 15 miles at 70mph. The car is worth very little. Is there any drawback to just keeping it going? I could buy a newish Fiesta which seems around the same size.
Just carry on using sensible maintenance. Because your trips are local it won't matter too much if it finally breaks down. One thing it does need is a fresh timing belt, tensioner, waterpump and alternator belt and you have to decide whether to spend £400 - £500 having them fitted.
