My clutch needs replaced at 22,000 miles - should the dealer replace it as goodwill?

I bought a 2014 Nissan Juke 1.2 Dig T reg in Dec 2016, with 17,000 miles on the clock. I've driven 5000 miles and now the dealership tells me the clutch is worn and it will cost £1000 to replace it. It's still under warranty until Dec 2018, but I'm told that the clutch is not covered because it's wear and tear. I'm worried now about how the car may have been treated before I bought it. Should they replace it as a gesture of goodwill? I've been assured that it was fully checked and serviced prior to me buying it. I still have finance on it for two years
If the clutch failed within six months of purchasing the car, the law assumes that the fault must have been present or developing on the day you bought the car and "wear and tear" will not normally lead a Small Claims judge to find in the dealer's favour.
