Cam chain changes for Ford Mondeo

My dad had a Ford Mondeo (2002 plate) with 120,000 miles on the clock. Should he change the chain, along with the tensioner? It has a full service history and regular oil changes but I'm being told it needs changing after 120,000 and others say it will last the life of the car. What do you think?
Big expensive job so best left along, but change the oil now, then change it again in 2000 miles, then keep changing it every 5000 miles to give the chain its best chance of survival. Use Ford or Texaco Havoline 5w/30 semi-synthetic.
