Do the water pump and timing belt need replaced at the same time?

My timing belt is due to be replaced after five years. The water pump is driven by a separate belt at the other end of the engine, I am told. Do they need replacing at the same time?
This is correct. Replacing the cam belt and tensioners will make it easy for the mechanic to access the water pump. Makes sense to change it at the same time.
