With a great E Power comes am issue

If you’re an owner or considering being one and the Qashqai E Power 2022 is on your list you are probably buying a great car.
I bought a new E Power N-Connecta in November 2022 and I really enjoy it. It’s smooth and has plenty of go from the lights if you need to. With the 12” info screen and an optional glass roof that’s all I need. As 80% of my driving is on the motorway I won’t pretend it’s doing the advertised 52mpg because it probably isn’t. That said it will around town if you push that e power button and switch on regen wherever possible. The car is overall excellent and in this category you will struggle to see anything that ticks the same boxes for the money. I did buy the new Honda HRV hybrid before this car and that was great around town but hopelessly underpowered at just 126ps. So when I discovered the new Qashqai E Power was launching with 190ps that sorted that niggle out.. They really can take off from a standing start.

However there are two issues you may come across. There are issues with the E Power which are beginning to become apparent, and mine and other owners have had to return to dealer because of it.

On occasion you may see a warning pop up on your dashboard stating the following:

“Warning e Power fault. Unable to restart after power off “

When this occurs you will be thinking it’s not going to restart after I switch off. That’s what I was thinking. The good news is that it will restart and there is no loss of power. Mine went back twice to the dealer who cleared the fault though it did return and disappear again. Nissan have kept it quite so far and as far as I know there is no recall. The dealer just cleared the fault and said it should settle down. I still like the car and all the time it’s in warranty I’ll keep it. When that is coming up I think I will simply change it for another so the issue is always Nissan’s to deal with.

if you look around on social media you will see owner groups which have recently started up for the owners who have the same issue.

Great car but needs this irritation dealt with. Oh the second issue though not serious is noisy brake pads. Sounds like they’re beyond wear limits but are not.

Still buy one. I would ( In warranty)

Thanks
