Bridgestone Motorcycles Not Tyres! - RaineMan

I was wondering if anybody in this forum has/had/remebers the Bridgestone 350 GTR? I saw a s/h one many moons ago (well around 1974/5) in a dealers. He suggested it was nearly as fast as a as the Bonneville of the same era. I cannot recall seeing one since. A few years ago I did see a 175 single at a classic vehicle show. They were attractive bikes and it seems a pity they gave up manufacturering them to focus on tyres!

Very rare and only ever saw one at the Stafford Classic show.

There was a very good test of this bike in Motorcycle Sport by MRW (I believe) who was a Don at Oxford, and unusually, well able to buy what he liked! Sadly, I got rid of my 20+ years copies of MS in a fit of tidying:( I can't get to another description at the moment, but I recal it was a rotary intake-valve two-stroke, and rather well specified.

If you look at the Wikipedia entry for Bridgestone, there is a link at the very bottom to an American Motorcycle Classics article on the GTR. Very few were sold in the UK
