After the first 28 days, can I still reject a car that had a fault before I bought it?

I purchased a car on the 7 October 2016 and it showed an engine fault warning light on the first day. I contacted the seller and he said he would have it fixed due to it being the EGR valve warning but that the car was okay to drive. I took it for repair on the 23 November 2016 and it took them 13 days before I got it back, then 18 days later the turbo seized. When I contacted him he said I was out of my 28 day warranty so it was up to me to get it fixed at my cost. In total I have had 34 days usage, what are my options?

He's correct you are out of the 28 day 2015 Consumer Rights Act right to reject, but he remains liable for any serious fault that could have been present or developing on date of sale for 6 months from the date of sale. See: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
