Caught speeding - what to do?

I was pulled over at 10.30pm last night for doing 46 in a 30. The police car was in a lay-by with his lights off. I saw him as I drove past and watched him pull out and follow me with his lights off for about 1/4 mile before I assume he realised.

He then pulled me over and gave me a ticket. I accept I was speeding, but was annoyed to be accused of unsafe driving when I would consider his oversight potentially more dangerous. Should I accept my fine with good grace or is there something more sinister to his 'lights off' tactics

Accept it. Or go to court, get more points and have to pay a much bigger fine.
