Over 70s driving licence out of date, what do I do?

I was reading an answer to a question about over 70s driving licence renewals from your latest newsletter which prompted me to check mine. It is over 12 months out of date, but I never received any reminder. I tried to renew online, but it won't allow me to do so. I will have to do it by post which will take ages. Am I in trouble?

You should have received the D46P application form from the DVLA 90 days before your 70th birthday but obviously didn't. I would apply asap. You can check the latest processing times for paper applications on the DVLA website here: www.gov.uk/guidance/dvla-coronavirus-covid-19-upda...s

Any idea what current delays are for over 70 driving licence renewals? I have been waiting nine weeks. How can I check that they have actually got my application? The DVLA website only covers online applications
